PFW HOLIDAY 2011: JEFFREY ROGADOR SPELLS FUN

Another stand-out show for me is the "Comic Strip" show by Jeffrey Rogador. Fun and interesting from the first time the teasers were revealed and yes it did not disappoint during the show itself.

The show added a fun concept of having bubble messages in the heads of the models. The messages range from funny, cheesy and even sexy. All of these elements were carefully combined to have one wonderful show that is both eye-catching and masterfully crafted. The collections were all fun as Jeffrey masterfully played with the fabrics and the colors. Looking at the designs themselves, it was one great collection from which fashionistas would like to wear.

I personally like the blue shirt and red shorts set above. Overall, the show was a hit and one of the few ones I enjoyed in the past Philippine Fashion Week.

PFW HOLIDAY 2011: DERICK HIBALER ROCKS

Now it's time for me to feature some of the designers that I think stood out in the Holiday 2011 Philippine Fashion Week. One of which is Derick Hibaler. What I liked about his show is that it has personality. The show and the clothes are closely related to himself. The rock side of Derick is evident in the pieces each model wore during the show.

He focused more on urban casuals. It is a mix of grunge, formal and day to day casuals. His collections are jeans intensive pairing them with different tops. Polos and jackets are frequently combined to achieve the new casual look most Filipinos wear. Wearability is also a big factor on Derick's collection as most people could easily get some pieces of his set and wear them readily. Truly something nice. The show was a good one! Kudos to Derick. Here are some of the pieces from his show.

Mommaista & her mini-me!

By Lauren Gonzalez

Inspired by Super Mom Casi and her precious baby Sadie, I’v scoped out some of my favorite mother and daughter (and son!) looks. Let’s be honest, no matter what happens you only have one mom. I can only speak for myself, but I love and appreciate all the incredible things my mom has done for me over the years. Usually it was just my younger sister and I matching clothes, however, the “Mommy & Me” trend has definitely taken off and grown!

Here are some of my favorite “Mommy and & Me” looks:

Lilly Pulitzer is well-known as one of my favorite brands, it’s no secret. I love the bring colors, the great dresses and happy prints. It’s my go-to feel-good brand! I personally think Lilly does fabulous mother and daughter looks. As much as the brand is geared towards women, it does a wonderful job on all the children's clothing as well! That’s right, you can match with the little man in your life, too! Usually there’s some matching shorts, swim trunks and ties for the grown-up gentlemen as well! The whole family can be decked out in coordinating Lilly - I’ve seen it done in Christmas cards, and I just about melt!

What I like most, is that there are just as many options for your minnie as there are for you! She doesn’t want a ruffles? Doesn’t like a high collar? No problem. There’s just so much to choose from. The hardest part is usually picking a favorite look!

Antik Batik truly has me floored. I am obsessed with their stylish and trendy dresses. I fell in love after seeing Miranda Lambert, one of my favorite country singers, perform on The Ellen Degeneres Show in a gorgeous silver Anitk Batik dress. I was blown away. It looked completely and utterly fabulous. I can not tell you how hard I looked online for that dress. And then I found it. And then I found more!

Back to the Moms and Minnies, though! These looks are timely and perfect for the increasingly warmer weather. The light material won’t weigh you down while your on the go from dance classes, the pool, or an outdoor barbeque party. I love the color combinations in both prints - again, the hard part is definitely picking just one matching pair!

I have very fond memories of helping my mom cook in the kitchen when I was little. I remember she even got me a little apron that was just my size! Those are great memories. Well, I stumbled upon the cutest matching apron set on Etsy! It’s from the mothernaturesnursery shop. That’s all one word, no spaces!!

Anyways, there are plenty of color options for your matching aprons. If you have little boys who like to help cook, too that’s no problem! There are little aprons without ruffles  or bows. They can also specially embroider them to say your children’s names! How precious is that? And as if these matching sets couldn’t get cuter...they do. You can also get a little chef hat that matches your little helper’s apron!

Cooking has never been cuter!

Lastly, I know you won’t always want to match you little ones. But that doesn’t mean you still can’t all be dressed in style!

I simply adore J. Crew for women and Crew Cuts for kids!

I carefully picked out some looks that coordinate well. Wether you both (or all!) are opting for stripes, a cool graphic tee, a flowing top, fun patterns or pretty dress - you will definitely find some great looks at J. Crew.

So these were MY top pick for matching moms. What are some of YOUR favorites to wear?

MY TOP 10 X-MEN HEROES

Well, just in time before the X-Men First Class gets to be shown here in the Philippines, I am also listing my top 10 superhero choices in the X-Men universe. Well, most of them are not in the movie but I still would like to watch it.

1. Gambit
- Touted as a villain sometime in his existence in the Marvel universe, I love Gambit out of all the X-men characters. He has character, charisma and great abilities as well. Most people call him the man on cards and stick, and yes he can truly burn the house down. His love story with Rogue has been one of the good points in the Marvel universe much more for an avid fan that has lived in the Uncanny X-Men era.

2. Wolverine
- Perhaps the most iconic symbol of the X-men because oh his claws, Wolverine is the most famous and most loved of all the X-men superheroes. His adamantium claws coupled by great agility and speed added to his super ability t heal and regenerate is one cool set of abilities. His somehow dark past and a conflicted love path is also a great storyline most of the fans like.

3. Rogue
- Super strong and has abilities to fly, I see Rogue as possibly the sexiest of all the X-men ladies. Her strength outside is somehow offset by her seemingly fragile personality. Prone to break downs and self-pity, Rogue is one character most people relate to. Mutant but still perfectly human. Hers and Gambit's love story is always a tearjerker.

4. Storm
- Powerful. Storm has been one of the best members of X-men. Her great abilities combined with her great composure and intellect makes her one formidable force in the Marvel universe. Her ability to control nature with use of wind, lightning, ice and the likes is something that would come handy in battles. Plus she flies!

5. Jean Grey
- I like Jean Grey better as Jean Grey than as Pheonix. I liek to see the strength of her mental prowess more than her fire wielding abilities as Pheonix. Plus I see a more humane side of her as Jean Grey, someone who loves unconditionally. Perhaps following the steps of Prof. X, she has the best telekinetic powers in the planet.

6. Iceman
- One of the original X-men, Iceman has so far been outshadowed by his more valiant counterparts but still he is one great superhero. Not as imposing as others physically (Wolverine) or power-wise (Storm), he can slide through the opponents and freeze them at will. His feud with former friend Pyro is also a joy to watch.

7. Psylocke
- Not gaining much airtime in movies, cartoons and even the comics, Psylocke has been a household name in the gaming world -X-men game series, Marvel Vs. Capcom. This lady ninja can sure kick some butt and surely is one great addition to the X-men. And did I say she's definitely sexy?

8. Cyclops
- One of better knowns X-men, I don't like Cyclops by much perhaps because he seems to have it all, great intellect, nice powers, a good life and a wonderful girl in Jean Grey, He is a good long range fighter with his optic blasts and likes his battles with Mr. Sinister. But I think there's a bot of personality missing to make me love him more.

9. X-23
- Like Wolverine in most ways but only a female, this new X character is one that makes up for the lack of female short range fighters in the X universe. It's good to see female characters slug it out physically from time to time. She's gaining more fans as well as she's part of the Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 game.

10. Archangel
- I like him more with the steel wings rather than as Angel, with the soft wings. As Archangel, he seems to have the imposing will to knock out those evil villains.
