Yes, as promised here are some of the pics of the Philippine Volcanoes for Bench. Our rugby team is surely making waves as they are making big noise along EDSA with their sexy billboards for Bench Body. Well, I know most of you have seen the boards in EDSA. Traffic hazard or passenger delight? It's your call.
For perspective, The Volcanoes were ranked in Division 4 back in 2008 but has vaulted to Division 1 in 2011. Their latest outing against Malaysia proved that they have really grown stronger as a team as they blasted the Malaysians 86-20 to stay in Division 1. Here are the individual pics for you. I personally like Arnold, Ned and Patriz. :)

Now all I could say is sales is bound to go up for Bench with this sizzling hot photos. I think they are marketed better than the Philippine Azkals were. And now here are some of the group pictures for you to marvel as well.

And again, here's the behind the scenes from the Bench photoshoot. Well, I thought summer is already out but the Volcanoes truly heat up the rainy season.

And after the Azkals made it big, another male sporting group is making some noise. The Philippine Volcanoes, the RP's Rugby Team is also doing well in the circuit. And they are making headlines as they join hands with Bench to serve as their newest endorsers of undergarments. Yup, man in trunks and shorts and they are hot. Here's the video from Bench and YouTube. Will post their pics soon.
There was a time when people specially in the Philippines were so addicted with Friendster and that every person maintains one account for them to get in touch with friends, families, former classmates and office mates.
Some even used Friendster to gain new friends, to find lovelife, to promote a site, to sell products and even to write notes and blogs. It wasn't until a better social networking site by the name of Facebook came out that Friendster's popularity dwindled. When I saw that FB was better, I decided to shut my Friendster account down. What I missed about it is the ever so long testimonials about one person and the fact that you coudl see who viewed you or when a person last logged in. All of those and more have been part of my life once.
But now, as the site draws its doors to a close, for sure Friendster would be missed. It was once a phenomenon but now would just be a part of history.
Another stand-out show for me is the "Comic Strip" show by Jeffrey Rogador. Fun and interesting from the first time the teasers were revealed and yes it did not disappoint during the show itself.
The show added a fun concept of having bubble messages in the heads of the models. The messages range from funny, cheesy and even sexy. All of these elements were carefully combined to have one wonderful show that is both eye-catching and masterfully crafted. The collections were all fun as Jeffrey masterfully played with the fabrics and the colors. Looking at the designs themselves, it was one great collection from which fashionistas would like to wear.
I personally like the blue shirt and red shorts set above. Overall, the show was a hit and one of the few ones I enjoyed in the past Philippine Fashion Week.
Now it's time for me to feature some of the designers that I think stood out in the Holiday 2011 Philippine Fashion Week. One of which is Derick Hibaler. What I liked about his show is that it has personality. The show and the clothes are closely related to himself. The rock side of Derick is evident in the pieces each model wore during the show.
He focused more on urban casuals. It is a mix of grunge, formal and day to day casuals. His collections are jeans intensive pairing them with different tops. Polos and jackets are frequently combined to achieve the new casual look most Filipinos wear. Wearability is also a big factor on Derick's collection as most people could easily get some pieces of his set and wear them readily. Truly something nice. The show was a good one! Kudos to Derick. Here are some of the pieces from his show.
One well known brand has joined the ramp at the Philippine Fashion Week once again. Regatta has actually tickled our interests when they released their teaser with a dock saying that it is not just a dock but a catwalk. And indeed it was, the SMX Convention Center Function Room 5 was turned into a dock style runway that made the loving expectators smile all throughout the show.
The colors on the collection were infused with brown and blue, showcasing more of the sea side and the water elements the brand is known for. Soft texture and soft colors make up for a good display of clothes both for the men and women's side. Cargos and denims are in plus the great usage of snickers and easy to wear shoes. I personally woudl liek to grab some of the men's pieces and have it for my own. Light and cool, nice and fresh. Those are some of the descriptions I could say about the Regatta show.

Two things on the Penshoppe show that can be derived from their Trailblazers tag this Holiday 2011. Blaze - as the designs were really nice and the entire collection for both men and women are commendable. Trail - the long lines outside the SMX venue were too long.
First things first, the organizing committee of Penshoppe should be advised that they did a poor job in the Penshoppe show. How come that people who had their tickets or those that have invites/guestlists have to register first then fall in line again just to get in. That means falling in line two times, such a waste of time. Second thing is that their registration procedures were an epic fail. There were no signs as to which area the ticket holders would go, or where the online registrants would line or where the guestlisted ones would go. Overall such a mess outside akin to the F&H show last October 2010.
The good thing is that the show was packed with great collections of clothes ranging from downright fashionable and chic. More on the black and white shades, the sets were accentuated by a lot of jackets, belts, vests and buttons. Most of the clothes materials were made with the foundation of leather and skin tight materials. Added to the great set of clothes, Penshoppe also triumphed in putting together a good set of models from the likes of Alvin Aguilar, Heydar Hosseini, Ram Sagad, Victor Basa and Solenn Heusaff.
Fashion show on Ice? If you thought that is quite impossible, then you were wrong. This Holiday 2011 Philippine Fashion Week has vowed to put people in awe with great collections and wonderful concepts, and one of the most interesting of which is the Candie's fashion show.
The show is the only show held on the SM Mall of Asia Ice Skating Rink. Cold you may think but the entire show was just hot and off the hook. The show in general was fun, bubbly and energetic with loads of effects (balloons, bubbles, lights), great music, great performances and a great backdrop to start with. The colors were bright and playful and really engaged the people watching the show. Since it is open for the general public to watch, a lot of people were glued to their spots when the show started.
Providing star power to the occassion was the teen stars of PBB and GMA such as Maxene Magalona, Elmo Magalona, Danica Magpantay, Ivan Dorschner, Bret Jackson, Fretzie Bercede, Tricia Santos, Ann Li and James Reid. Overall, the show was noteworthy and wonderful. Hope to see more of Candie's in the next Fashion Weeks to come.
