HOOTERS MUNCH OUT

It has been a while since I featured a restaurant and what a better way to have a new post by doing one for HOOTERS. Hooters for some of those who don't know is an American Inspired resto much akin to the likes of Friday's, Tony Roma's and Chili's. But what makes it different? Well, let's just say the place is sizzling hot.

Why do I say so? Well, the ladies are in their shortest shorts ever. Yup, so guys hooray if you want a feast not only for your tummies but also for your eyes. I am joined by my bestfriend this time around and we ordered quite a lot for just 2 people. We ate Chicken Quesadillas, Boneless Wings, Grilled Chicken Salad and soda. Wow, and all I could say was it was really something.

I enjoyed the ambiance and the as for the food, i loved the Boneless Wings. It was tasty up to the innermost portions of the chicken meat. The dips were just superb as well. As for the rest they were good as well. Maybe more dressing on the salad would make it more tempting. So if you haven't tried Hooters, then go now and have a great dining experience.

TAKE A BITE @ GREENWICH'S SNACK 'N SIP

2011 has really started to be a good year for fast food chains and restaurants in introducing new food items and even getting back old favorites. One of the items that really caught my attention is Greenwich's "Snack 'N Sip".

"Snack N' Sip" is currently one of their hot sellers. The combo sees their pizza fries combined with a medium sized drink of your choice and it comes in one handy and easy-to-go cup. And what's more appealing is that it is affordably priced at PHP 49 only. Wow!

I actually have bought it for quite some time already and I am simply enjoying it. Now I don't need to have the drinks on one hand and the fries on the other. i can even it and drink while walking without much fuss. Try it and I guarantee you'll have fun!

For more info on this great snack and other Greenwich menu, please visit their official website: http://www.greenwich.com.ph/

2010 IN REVIEW: MY MOST LOVED FAST FOOD AND BEVERAGE CHAINS

Food.. food.. food.. And in a fast paced world like what we have right now, food chains who could offer the quickest food are big hits. Here are the stores that have become a part of my regular cravings in 2010

1. KFC
- Nuff said, I am really a KFC fanatic. I simply love all their recipes and definitely eat with them on a regular basis. They have come a long way in introducing new food choices in 2010. The KFC BBQ sticks were both delicious and cheap. The KFC Double Down is mouth watering. Then there's the KFC Shakin' Shots and Chili Lime chicken. But above anything else, I love their Twisters specially the california maki. And at the end of the day, the old reliable chicken is still on top. Much so with that ever so tasty gravy.

2. Krispy Kreme
- I simply love their doughnuts from their original glazed up to their mini doughnuts. And one thing to really note is their occasional themed doughnuts like the ones for Summer (Mango), Halloween and the Christmas doughnuts. And I also love their new menu regulars Mini Doughnuts and their Baked Creations (Kruffins and Pull-Aparts).

3. Jollibee
- Proudly Filipino. Jollibee has continuously become a part of the Filipino daily craving. Their Chicken Joy is always a tasty treat. Jollibee has remained to be one of the cheapest in the fast food chain battles and has never failed to attract kids. For me the best is the Jollibee Chicken Joy with Spaghetti Meal and of course their Regular Yum.

4. Starbucks
- Of all the coffee houses in the metro, I still love Starbucks the most. I love the ambiance of their stores, the pleasing personalities of their crew and the tasty treats of coffee and pastries. And who would not want their planner which they introduce every November. I got mine just before the year ended.

5. McDonald's
- McDo has been the main competition of Jollibee and you can see that with their products almost mirroring each other out. But there are some notable products I love from this store. Their budget meal Chicken Fillet Meal is truly a saver. And I really watch every time they bring back theis Twister Fries. Yummy!

6. Burger King
- Probably the best burgers in town! Although some might see their food as a bit pricey, it is reasonable since the serving is big enough to satisfy one's craving. For me an order of Mushroom Swiss or Whopper is a big yes! And did I mention they have free wifi and charging station as well?

7. Greenwich
- When anyone says Greenwich the first thing that comes into my mind is the very flavorful Lasagna Supreme. Bring me that and I'll thank you a lot! I swear, I love them! And for some people who can't afford the prices of other pizzerias in town, Greenwich is the answer. Tasty!

8. Chowking
- The budget Chinese resto in the Philippines. The meals are patterned to Chinese cuisines but with added Filipino flavor. The best for me is their Sweet and Sour Pork although they have changed the sauce not to Apple. And for those who have big appetite, try their group lauriat (good for 3) but can be eaten by 2. Ask me and my bestfriend.

9. Wendy's
- Biggie anyone? For the biggest servings of fries, this fast food chain gets the award. My top choice: Wendy's Bacon Mushroom Melt. Simply mouth watering. I miss their salad buffet though. Hope they bring it back.

10. Shakey's
- "Bunch of Lunch" is their stable menu offering and it never ceases to satisfy those taste buds. I loved their pizzas as well and of course the best for me is their Mojos. Potato at its tastiest form.

2010 IN REVIEW: HOTTEST FOOD CRAZES

I love eating and that means evrything that there is from fine dining to resto to lutong bahay and street foods. In 2010, a lot of new food crazes has sprouted all across the metro and these are the things I loved.

1. Ice Scramble
- Gone are the days when scrambles can only be seen in front of the gates of public schools. Oh, I mis those days. Now, the scrambles are making their conquest of the malls. Of all stands, I personally love Ice Scramble (the one I frequent the most is the Harrison Plaza branch). Sweet, cold and brings back the memories.

2. Siomai House
- Siomai + Rice + Gulaman and you have a sumptuous mouth filler on hand. 4 pieces siomai costs only 25 PHP while the one with rice is at 35 PHP. For budget conscious people, here's a meal you can really put on top of your list. Tasty. I so love Siomai House. =)

3. Rice In A Box
- Now this is a biggie. For prices ranging 39-62 (depends on store location and all), one could have a rice meal already that will definitely satosfy one's hunger. And for the resaonable price, they are indeed tasty and quite a lot of servings. I like chicken and pork barbeque the most but all the others are equally tasty as well.

4. Jammin' Jamaica
- Jamaican patties are really delicious. Thanks to my bestfriend who actually introduced this to me only in 2010. Would you imagine that? And once I got to taste them, all the rest was history. I pretty much love Beefy Mushroom and Cheezy Beef. And their prizes are also reasonable ranging from 40 PHP up. And did I say they also have pizzas? Now, having a tasty meal like that while Bob Marley is playing on the background is something.

5. Dr. Kwek Kwek
- One of my favorite kwek-kwek/tokneneng stall is Dr. Kwek Kwek in Mall of Asia. Anytime there's a budget constraint and I need mouth fillers, I just order their 5 piece tokneneng budgetky priced at PHP 20 only. That is indeed cheap.

6. Twistix
- Potato with a twist. At first I was quite hesitant to try it but hey after one time, I just seemed to enjoy it. Nice tasty potato and there are a whole bunch of flavors as well. I indulge myself to the tasty flavors of BBQ and I love the combined sweetness and spice of it.

7. Waffle Time
- Already in the market for quite some time, I still love the waffles of waffle time. They continue to grow and even add new flavors ranging from sweet to candy like. Still one of the more successful franchises in the food kart arena.

8. NYFD
- New York Fries Department may be in the higher part of your budgets as they don't come in cheap but they are simply delicious. Their combo meals wih pasta, burgers and fries are simply tempting. And I love all the dip choices to liven up the taste of their fries.

9. Mini-Stop
- Wel, aside from being 24/7 open, it has some of nice food bites available as well. I love kariman and their sundaes. What a treat.

10. 7/11
- Another 24/7 shop and a good one as well. I love their new rice meals and their pasta boxes. And who could forget their ever so nice Slurpee. Time for brain freeze.

JOLLIBEE'S KIDS WHO CAN

One of the country's leading fast food chain is setting up one big music concert specially for kids. The show entitled "Kids Who Can" will be held on October 16, 2010 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

What makes this show appealing is the fact that the target audience are kids and they will surely enjoy this one. Why?  Aside from the performances from hundreds of talented kids, the "bulilits" will also have fun with appearances by our well-loved Jollibee mascots. Despite this being a kids event, adults will also be entertained with the vast array of songs and dance numbers the kids will present to the audience. The show will be hosted by Nikki Gil and will include appearances by known personalities Sam Concepcion and Andi Eigenmann.

Families who want to catch "Kids Who Can" would find it easy snagging tickets. They just need to drop to any participating Jollibee outlet and for just PHP 150, one will get a free Chickenjoy w/ Spaghetti Value Meal. Gates open at 4 PM and there wil be loot bags and games before the actual show.

KFC SHAKIN' SHOTS

You might have a bit of idea now that I am definitely a KFC lover. I don't know but theire flavor really catches my taste buds and leaves me wanting for more. What I also like about KFC is how they try to introduce bold new products and also do reinventions of their existing menu.

And yes they are again on the center of the food buzz. With a genuinely funny TV ad that saw four gay guys watching Miss Universe 2010 while holding the Shakin' Shots, KFC has certainly found another winner. (Yes, they are the same people in the YouTube sensation) Their newest product is actually an innovation of their fun shots and hot shots brand but this time with fresh new flavors. And what's cute about it is that you are the ones who will add the flavors. Boasting of 3 new tastes about to make you ask for more, the Shakin' Shots flavors are Cheddar Cheese ,Grillin' Barbecue , Garlic Parmesan. I have tasted 2 except Cheddar Cheese and I would say they were good.

Aside from getting it ala carte, you can also have it as a combo - regular shakin shots, regular fixin and regular drink. You need to have a taste of this as surely you will like it. Let's go Shakin and say "We love Shakin' Shots".

Here's the fun video of the "Shakin' Shots" promotion.

TOO MUCH WORK COULD MAKE YOU FAT

Yes, you heard it right. While many people say too much office work could actually make you lose weight. Guess what, it's the other way around. No it's not just a myth but a truth. Why is this so?

Too much work oftentimes create a stressful environment. In a world full fo stress, people oftentimes look for stressbusters. One of the best ways to relieve stress is to binge and grab whatever food you could munch on. Add this particular thought - when pressed with deadlines and all, one has no time to stand up his seat therefore resorting to deliveries from fast food chains. We all know, most of the food in fast food chains are rather unhealthy - full of calories, fats, oils, sugar etc.. The idea of a sumptuous oftentimes too much of a meal, somehow releases stress and therefore keeps one working. But that could only last for a while. When stress sinks in again, food may be the answer yet once more. Chocolates, candies, sodas, chips - name it and you have a complete list of food items that are always there and ready to bloat you up.

ICE CREAM INDULGENCE: GELATISSIMO

Ice Cream is one of my favorite food for indulgence and I have tasted several brands, shops and types of ice cream. Gelato is making its big boom in the Philippines. Latest to join the foray is Gelatissimo Cafe which has it branch at Glorietta 5, Makati.

Gelatissimo's gelato are really sumptuous, smooth, rich and flavorful. This and the wide array of choices in flavor makes Gelatissimo irresistible. Never mind those diet as they provide gelatos that are low in fat and surely an eye-candy for those figure conscious people.

My personal favorites are American Fudge Brownie where the chocolate flavor really asks for more servings. I also like Brazilian Coffee where the immense taste of the coffee sinks into one's tongue.

There are also several flavors that are worthy to take note of. Most of which I haven't tried yet but some of my friends recommend. Australian Honey & Macadamia, French Creme Brulee and Swiss Toblerone. And don't forget the traditional flavors are still there like Chocolate, Tiramisu, Green Tea and a whole lot more.

C'mon, indulge the sweetness and flavorful taste of Gelatissimo and I'm sure you'll go back for more.
